    Company Overview: Our client, a dynamic and growing company based in Burton Upon Trent, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving business with a clear progression path to a Management Accountant role within 12 to 24 months.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Cash Book Maintenance:
      • Maintain company cash books by posting daily transactions into the finance system.
      • Produce month-end bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    2. Sales Ledger Management:
      • Post ad hoc credits, cash receipts, and sales invoices as needed.
      • Send monthly customer statements.
      • Act as a credit controller by chasing overdue debt and reviewing orders on credit hold for release.
      • Collaborate with the sales office to resolve customer queries.
      • Open credit accounts for customers.
    3. Purchase Ledger Maintenance:
      • Post supplier invoices, credits, and cash transactions.
      • Reconcile balances to supplier statements where available.
      • Prepare BACS payments for approval and send remittance advices once processed.
    4. Credit Card Statements:
      • Distribute and reconcile company credit card statements.
      • Load the expense journal each month.
    5. Payroll Preparation:
      • Prepare the weekly payroll by extracting information from the clocking system.
      • Load payroll data to produce payments, wage slips, RTI information, etc.
    6. Ad Hoc Financial Reporting:
      • Produce ad hoc finance reports, such as general ledger analysis, using Excel.
    7. General Finance Tasks:
      • Manage GRNI (Goods Received Not Invoiced) and old purchase orders still open.
      • Perform filing and other ad hoc housekeeping tasks.
    8. Other Duties:
      • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested to support the finance team and the wider business.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other finance software.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Previous experience in a Accounting/Bookkeeping role is preferred but not essential.

    I am delighted to present a unique opportunity to join a global manufacturing/engineering business based in BURTON UPON TRENT as a BUSINESS CONTROLLER / SENIOR FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER on a 12-14 month FIXED TERM CONTRACT.

    The ideal start date would be mid-January, with an end date of MARCH 25. The salary range is £63,000 to £70,000 (dependant on experience) with a 15% BONUS, 28 days holiday (+bank hols) and a very generous pension scheme.

    This JOB is HYBRID working, with 5 direct reports and reports directly to the Global Finance Director.

    If you are a QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), with management experience, strong finance business partnering and a broad finance background, then this is the opportunity for you.

    A background in manufacturing is desirable but not essential, if all other boxes are ticked.

    SYNOPSIS OF THE ROLE:

    An exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in propelling a growth strategy. Reporting to the Global Finance Director, your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the Finance function of a crucial site, with exposure extending to the broader Division, Business Area, and beyond.

    Your primary objective is to offer real-time support and analysis, serving as a trusted advisor and providing value to facilitate decision-making processes. Key to your success will be the adeptness to comprehend the needs of stakeholders and convey information in a clear and user-friendly manner.

    This role is distinctly that of a business partner, requiring an individual with an energetic personality, at ease with disseminating financial data and knowledge to mentor peers and contribute to team development. A proactive involvement in problem-solving across the business landscape is also expected.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Interface actively between Finance and Operations, influencing day-to-day decisions, shaping strategy, and steering the business's direction.
    2. Demonstrate commercial awareness by understanding and anticipating the needs of both operations and management.
    3. Drive the unit towards continuous improvement through effective finance management and communication of key performance results.
    4. Interpret data, assess its value, and present findings concisely to relevant stakeholders.
    5. Form and stand over recommendations, upholding a well-developed sense of ethics.
    6. Challenge, coach, and motivate team members, identifying and winning over key stakeholders to achieve Divisional objectives.
    7. Lead a multi-site Finance team in partnering principles through continuous appraisal, feedback, and development.

    9. Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant policies and reporting timescales, organising resources for timely and accurate completion of internal and external reporting requirements.
    10. Collaborate with the Compliance function to maintain and improve internal controls, ensuring the safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial information.

    Requirements:

    1. Proven track record of successful performance management, continuous improvement of your team, and positive contributions to peer development.
    2. Degree-level education with an accounting qualification, preferably CIMA; ACCA or ACA qualifications considered for candidates demonstrating an excellent match in experience.
    3. At least five years of post-qualified experience in relevant business partner positions with exposure to various operational functions (Sales, R&D, lifecycle, and supply chain).
    4. Experience in a fast-paced environment.
    5. Effective use of ERP systems.
    6. Highly commercial and influential, with demonstrated business partnering and leadership skills.

    • You will take full responsibility for the month-end process and ensure Controls and Processes of the team are to the highest standard from both an external audit and Sarbanes Oxley ("Sox") perspective
    • You will be a natural leader and people manager who helps to coach the team, driving individual performance and continual improvement with a strong emphasis on developing the team to work in a more autonomous way
    • You will quickly identify gaps in skill and work with the team to bridge these gaps
    • You ideally have had past experience of implementing ERP systems. You'll be able to identify system improvements that can help to refine financial processes, whilst also making sure that the integrity of that information is of paramount importance
    • Whilst generating the information is important, so is what you use it for! You will be someone who challenges the status quo and uses financial information to drive business outcomes and changes in behaviour across all levels of the organisations leadership team

    Required Skills and Experience

    • A sound technical background
    • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years PQE

    I am delighted to present an exceptional JOB opportunity to work with THE employer of choice in Derbyshire. We have been engaged to recruit an INTERIM HEAD OF TRANACTIONAL ACCOUNTING on a 6-9 month basis, starting ASAP.

    The role will pay a day rate of £500-£750 per day and report to the Director of Accounting.

    There is flexibility on salary and start date for the right person.

    This is an incredibly exciting time to join the business as they embark on an organisation wide transformation programme.

    The working practice is HYBRID, ideally 3 days on site, 2 days from home with the HQ based in Derbyshire.

    Below is a synopsis of the key responsibilities, skills, experience and prerequisites for the role:

    Essential/Desirable

    • Must have led Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions or have significant experience in P2P/O2C process transformation
    • Must have recently worked in US GAAP in these areas
    • Revenue management and billing experience is a plus
    • Technology implementation experience is a plus

    Main Responsibilities

    • Responsible for management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Reconciliation, Regional Administration and Treasury.
    • Work with the team managers to implement team KPIs and drive operational efficiencies across team.
    • Ensure Sarbanne Oxley (SOX) compliance across the teams activities and ensure adherence to the SEC filing deadlines.
    • Work with team to ensure ERP system is being fully utilised with processes and controls documented and evidenced.
    • Lead project to embed Purchase Order rollout across the business increasing percentage of invoices processed with POs.
    • Work with business to identify opportunities to consolidate invoices and ensure Financial and Operational processes are aligned on key areas such as purchasing.
    • Support the Financial Controller in fully understanding Revenue and Cash Reconciliation requirements, identifying opportunities to simplify and automate.
    • Support Sales Ledger Manager in bedding in automation across Query Management and customer communication. Improving Debt reporting and escalation processes.
    • Work with Treasury team to embed processes around Cash reporting and forecasting, driving improvements in accuracy of Cash forecast.
    • Work across the team to drive down the amount of manual payments whilst increasing invoices paid to terms statistics.
    • Ensure development and succession planning opportunities in place for the team.
    • Liaising banks, supplier, customers and auditors on the companies behalf.

    Skills and Experience

    • Extensive experience in managing Transactional finance teams.
    • Good knowledge of Excel and experience of working with an ERP system
    • Knowledge of US Gaap and SOX compliance preferred

    What is the job?

    • Analyse cost data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or optimisation.
    • Assist with cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the financial impact of business decisions and initiatives.
    • Help prepare regular reports on cost performance, including variance analysis and forecasting.
    • Present findings and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

    What are you like?

    • Either studying or interested in studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA
    • 2-3 years' experience in accounts payable, cost analysis, financial planning, or related Finance roles.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues with data.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
    • Experience using Dynamics 365 and Adaptive is a plus.
