Salary: Up to £30,000
Office-based: 5 Days a Week
Macildowie is thrilled to represent a dynamic client in their search for an Assistant Payroll Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for payroll operations and a desire to lead a dedicated team.
Role Overview:
The Assistant Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and on time. This role involves addressing queries from business leaders, stabilising workloads, and promoting a positive team environment. The Assistant Payroll Manager will also serve as a subject matter expert, continuously looking for ways to enhance operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate monthly team meetings and provide ongoing support to ensure workloads are managed effectively.
- Supervise and assess the performance of direct reports, revising evaluation and departmental plans as needed.
- Ensure that team members have the necessary skills and training to meet business and personal development goals.
- Collaborate with the team to identify process improvement initiatives and set standards for new payroll procedures.
- Act as a backup for team members during absences or peak periods.
- Maintain payroll accuracy by managing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and making adjustments as necessary.
- Keep payroll records current by reviewing and entering modifications, such as deductions and exemptions.
- Audit payroll information to identify and correct any discrepancies, ensuring balanced payroll accounts.
- Accurately run the monthly payroll, including HMRC payments and payroll journals.
- Compile and submit pension data to various pension scheme providers on a monthly basis.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of five years of experience in a payroll function, with exposure to multiple areas.
- Strong people management skills and the ability to motivate a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail, with the ability to analyse and interpret information effectively.
- A commitment to providing exceptional customer service and fostering strong internal relationships.
